R4R conference "A regional contribution to the European recycling society", 17 September 2014, Brussels

Debate key issues for waste and resources

Organised in the framework of the R4R project (Regions for Recycling) with the support of the Committee of the Regions, the conference aimed to provide a contribution to the debate on the review of waste management targets related to the revision of the EC Waste Framework Directive (a proposal from the European Commission is to be released during the first half of 2014).

The conference also addressed some key local and regional instruments helping to improve waste prevention and recycling performances, in particular economic instruments.

One of the objectives was to highlight the role of local and regional authorities in those debates and showcase their expertise.
