TyGRE, an EU-Funded project for waste tyres recycling
'High added value materials from waste tyre gasification residues' is an EU-funded project set out with the aim of finding new uses for Europe's waste tyres.
Around the world, each year 1 million tyres reach their end of life, quantity that is increasinf every year. However, waste tyres are potentially fully recyclable. tyres contain steel and a large amount of organic materials which can be used as a fuel resource as well as secondary raw material for high added-value-by-products.
ENEA - The Italian national agency for new technologies, energy and sustainable economic development - is leading this project, which has received EUR 3.3 million un EU-funding.
The R4R project aims at helping cities and regions to recycle waste efficiently at a local level by providing good practices and an online monitoring tool.
